Week 6- external clients

This week we had a busy salon and I was working on an external client that was going away on holiday. On this client I was tinting eyebrows and eyelashes, eyebrow maintenance as well as an underarm wax, I did this treatment as an assessment and I have now nearly finished my B5 unit. This client was an elder lady and had faint eyebrows and eyelashes but wanted them as dark as I could get them so I used brown tint for the eyebrows and blue/black tint for the eyelashes which I tinted twice to get the effect that the client wanted.

Week 5- job process

As our assessor wasn't here she set us as task to look for jobs in the beauty industry, through this I found a job in a new salon on Chatsworth Road looking for a part time receptionist. I am currently in the middle of writing a new CV to apply for this job and am hopeful that I will get an interview with the salon.

Week 4- working in college

As there was only a few clients today I did Sarah a manicure, her nails were all different shapes and sizes so I spent alot of time filing and shaping her nails. Sarah also bites her nails and the skin around the nail so the skin was sensitive to touch and I had to work carefully. My tutor has asked me to start looking at jobs in a beauty environment and also to start thinking about what route I am wanting to do next year.

Week 3- The Hayes Conference Center, Swanwick

Me, Neev and Beth at The Hayes Conference Center, Swanwick
For work experience we were asked to help out at The Hayes Conference Center in Swanwick, this was an event that was going on all week to promote Chesterfield College for school children. We worked on year 8's from three different schools giving hand and arm massages, we got alot of children at the stall queuing a mixture of boys and girls at one point there were more boys which was nice too see. Across from our stall was another promotional stall for Chesterfield College which had sign up sheets for taster days which all got filled out by students without the pressure of teachers or us. Alot of the girls said that they were thinking of a further education in beauty or a career in beauty therapy where others were just intrigued with us pouring Eve Taylor candle wax into our hands!! This was an enjoyable experience apart from a long bus journey to Swanwick, and I hope that some of the children do come to the taster session next year.

Week 2- Pactice session

Aisha practicing warm waxing.
This week we had no clients so we practiced on each other with waxing and eye treatments. For the start of the lesson I waxed one of my peers legs, however I only did one and would of preferred to do both to improve my time for assessments, also I did half of a bikini line which I hadn't done before. For the second half of the second half of the lesson I was a client for Neev and Aisha as they did my underarms.

Week 1- setting up

After an hour of trying the blog finally started to work!
During the first session of work experience we started to set up our blogs, after nearly an hour mine finally started to work (this was my facial expression). I decided to set my blog to fit my personality bright, girly and outgoing, also it looks like the Victoria Secret logo!! For next week we were wanting to sort out packages for the clients we will be working on.
